Green Energy, Clean Energy,

Renewable Energy

Here’s an easy way to differentiate between green energy, clean energy and renewable energy:

  • Clean energy = clean air

  • Green energy = no harm to the environment

  • Renewable energy = sources that replenish naturally, such as the sun and the wind

  • Solar power is considered both "green" and "clean" energy because it is a renewable source that produces no harmful greenhouse gas emissions when generating electricity, making it a highly environmentally friendly option for power generation.

ECONOMIC IMPACT

  • Economic impact

A study found that renewable energy plants in the Inland Empire contributed over 90% of the direct economic benefits of California's climate and clean energy policies.

  • Solar led the way in job growth among electricity generating technologies in 2023, adding 18,401 new jobs.

Irrigating Fields

WATER & CLIMATE CHANGE IN
INLAND SOCAL

Climate change is exacerbating both water scarcity and water-related hazards (such as floods and droughts), as rising temperatures disrupt precipitation patterns and the entire water cycle. The Inland Empire's semiarid climate and limited rainfall already make water scarce, and climate change could increase the likelihood of severe droughts. Climate change could increase the likelihood of wildfires in the Inland Empire. Invasive grasses, which are a major fuel for wildfires, could grow due to changes in precipitation.

SOLAR ENERGY WORKFORCE

Solar Power is Carbon Neutral

Solar power works by converting energy from the sun into power. There are two forms of energy generated from the sun for our use – electricity and heat. Both are generated through the use of solar panels, which range in size from residential rooftops to ‘solar farms’ stretching over acres of rural land.

Solar panels generate electricity directly from sunlight, resulting in zero greenhouse gas emissions during operation. The sun is a naturally replenishing source of energy, making solar power a sustainable option. By replacing fossil fuels, solar power contributes to cleaner air and reduced carbon footprint.
